Despite of the popularity of Google Chrome and other third party Web Browsers, many users stick to the default Browser of Microsoft Windows (Microsoft Internet Explorer). It is perceived since a long time that there are issues connecting to the web through Internet Explorer 9 and the previous versions. One of these issues is getting Security Alert while connecting to the secured websites. There might be different reasons of receiving such alert. These reasons, along with their respective solutions are briefly conferred in this text:
Compatibility Error
This error is actually encountered by the users, still using Internet Explorer 8. Nowadays, websites are developed according to the parameters of latest versions of web browsers. The use of an older version might face obstacles in viewing these pages on the first run. To resolve this problem, users are directed to enable the compatibility view. This can be done by clicking the Compatibility button in the top-right corner of IE window.
Date/Time Settings
In some instances, the date and time set in the user’s PC is not correct. This might be due to a weak CMOS battery, where the date and time automatically resets each time the system is booted. In such case website can temporarily be viewed by verifying the date and time. The manner is to correct the date and time through Date, Time, Language, and Regional Options in Control Panel. However, the permanent solution is to replace the CMOS battery.
Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)
Some URLs use protocol that sends the security sensitive information in encrypted formats, and start with https instead of http. Websites use SSL protocol to secure confidential information. On being accessed, such websites use the certificate on the user’s computer to verify the identity. These certificates are stored on the cache until the system is rebooted, and therefore, prevents some other sites from being accessed until the cache is cleared of it. Besides rebooting the system, it can be resolved by clicking Clear SSL State in the Content tab of Internet Options.
Dynamic-Link Library (DLL)
Dynamic-link library or .dll files are portable executable files that are stored in the primary memory until a program uses them. Corrupt or out of date DLL files can also prevent a system to access certain websites, in the event of which the security alerts are received. To remediate this dispute, it is needed to re-register the Internet Explorer .dll files. To start the procedure, open the Command Prompt and type the following lines, by pressing Enter after each line.

IE Settings
There are occasions, where the Internet Explorer settings reach to an incompatible level for certain websites. Moreover, some add-ons in the IE browser can also contradict with the security policies of such websites. In order to address this subject, settings of the Microsoft Internet Explorer must be reset. For this purpose, go to the Advanced tab of Internet Options and click the Reset button.
System Restore
Windows operating system provides its operators with the ability to set Restore points. Whenever you find your settings at an ideal state with an advanced level, you can choose that state as your checkpoint to start over, in case of any settings mischief. This feature of Windows can also be used as a cure for the problem discoursed above. In case of failure in finding any solution, you have a resort of turning back to the compatible settings.
